A couple of miles outside of Miami, too close to the smog of a city to think possible, lies a lush rainforest like wonderland, begging to be discovered. Key Biscayne is worth the trip for a day or a weekend.
One of many small islands located off of the coast of Florida, Key Biscayne offers beaches galore as well as gold for grandpa and parks for the kids. I was lucky enough to come and spend a couple of hours before sunset to explore the coast and to check out the lighthouse and stilt houses that dot the distant horizon.
Off of the key, lies a National Park that is definitely worth checking out. About 80% of it lies under water, so renting a boat or hopping on a tour is the best way to get it done. If you do happen to have your own boat to use, you can explore the park to your hearts content. This is how I plan on experiencing this amazing area next time.
