This area was absolutely amazing. I find it hard to express the joy I felt while driving down the 101 being surrounded by these towering trees. Walking inside a treehouse that was made out of a (still living) 4000 year old being was almost spiritual. Being confused by the laws of gravity at “Confusion Hill” was whacky and driving up to an active volcano covered in snow was breathtaking. I can’t wait to go back.

Soaring to 14,179 feet/4,322 meters high, this magnificent volcano scrapes the turquoise-blue sky, north of Redding, a totem from almost anywhere in the northern part of the state.
